Rap Legend Craig Mack Dies At Age 46

Alvin Toney, who produced Mack's debut album "Project: Funk Da World" and his "Get Down Remix", tells the NY Daily News the rapper died of heart failure.

Mack's hit "Flava In Ya Ear" helped spark Bad Boy's 90's dominance, but he left the game in the mid-1990's and slept a low profile in SC until his passing.

Flava in Ya Ear was the first release on Combs' label Bad Boy Records, which became one of the most significant in hip-hop history, launching the careers of the Notorious BIG, Mase, Faith Evans, Janelle Monáe and French Montana.

Toney said: "God bless my friend".

Craig Mack released two albums in the 90s - Project: Funk da World and Operation: Get Down.

Fellow musicians such as Evidence, Boi-1da, Pharoahe Monch, Termanology, Roc Marciano, Joe Budden, and R.A. the Rugged Man have paid tribute on Twitter.

The "Flava in Ya Ear" rapper was living in Walterboro, SC, where he'd joined a church and committed himself to his religion.

Diddy, going by Puff Daddy at the time, took Mack under his wing after the aspiring rapper proved his prowess by freestyling outside club Mecca in Manhattan. Long Island's own. We were proud of Craig when he came out with the little indie song as MC EZ & TROUP.

Many of those in the hip-hop community are mourning Mack's death by taking to social media on Tuesday.

"Nobody got to understand his story", Toney said.

He noted that Mack, having struggled with illness for some time, was "prepared for whatever comes, to go home to the Lord. It was something I wanted people to enjoy, but it was cut short because he was very religious and wanted to go to church". "He wasn't scared. He was ready".

'I wanted the world to know the talent he had. Ambrosia For Heads extends its deepest condolences to Mack's family, friends and millions of fans.
