Keenan Evans was everything in Texas Tech's second round win over Florida

Keenan Evans was everything in Texas Tech's second round win over Florida

Texas Tech (25-9) is ranked No. 3 in the region. Florida's two leading scorers, Hudson and Egor Koulechov each shoot better than 40 percent on 3-pointers and combine for an average of 10.8 attempts per game.

The Red Raiders are coming off a win over Stephen F. Austin in the first round.

As he has most of the season, Keenan Evans led the way with 23 points while Zhaire Smith added 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Florida survived its first test in the NCAA Tournament, handling business against St. Bonaventure in first-round action. Florida vs Texas Tech live stream is on TNT stream.

And it was that cooling off that doomed Florida in the end because the Gators never truly forced Texas Tech to play outside of their game. A rough end to the regular season, including four straight loses, put an end to their hopes of a Big 12 title but the Red Raiders are still a risky team. Then the buzzer sounded and the game ended. Still, the Gators led by one at the break thanks to Koulechov's put-back at the buzzer.

It was an alley oop from Evans to Smith with 29.5 seconds left that sealed the deal for Chris Beard's club, putting Tech up 69-64.

The calls and the momentum immediately swung in Florida's direction as the Gators scored eight straight points, got some favorable calls and loosened the home-court advantage the Raiders held on the AAC crowd. This time it was point guard Clayton Custer hitting a running jumper with just under five seconds to go to provide the Ramblers the winning points.

What it means: Florida failed to advance to the Sweet 16 (or Elite Eight) of an NCAA Tournament for the first time in six tries since 2010. "School's closed, let's all go to Atlanta!"
