Jonathan Osorio helps Toronto FC into CONCACAF Champions League final

The Mexican team staved off massive pressure from the New York Red Bulls to claim a 0-0 away draw and 1-0 aggregate triumph before a crowd of 23,623 at Red Bull Arena.

The Red Bulls racked up 20 shots on the night to just one for the Liga MX side, but couldn't make their efforts count, with Chivas narrowly edging the result. Chivas looked energized after the break and went close twice in the opening minutes of the second half, while the Red Bulls were still lively in their attacking third.

Although Club América controlled possession (58% to 42%) and created more chances (14 shots to 10 shots), the Mexican team was not able to put the ball in the net aside from Andrés Ibargüen's 21st minute goal.

Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles did not have any saves. Daniel Royer had two good chances that also came up short in the opening 45 minutes, rolling a shot from a hard angle wide of the far post before seeing a well-struck header blocked to safety.

Alarm bells were ringing for the MLS side when forward Jozy Altidore had to leave the pitch in the seventh minute with an injury. Tosaint Ricketts burst on to a wonderful lofted through ball from Sebastian Giovinco before unselfishly teeing up Osorio to tap home.

FIFA's 2026 evaluation committee had only just left Mexico City and its Azteca stadium when the iconic venue returned to the real business of play in the Conacaf Champions League.

As the game wore on, Toronto captain Michael Bradley moved further and further back, helping to shore up T.F.C.'s defense.

Club América had a free kick right on the edge of the penalty area in the 84th minute, with goalkeeper Agustin Marchesín coming up to take the shot so his teammates to load up the box. His shot was blocked by Toronto FC's wall, defusing the threat.
