Zuckerberg has a hard time during the second hearing with US Congress

How can we measure data's worth?

And Mark Zuckerberg added: "A number of people suggest that we should offer a version where people cannot have ads if they pay a monthly subscription, and certainly we consider ideas like that".

The following day, he was asked by Congressman Ben Lujan about the data collected on people who had never even signed up to Facebook.

Zuckerberg faced tougher questions from House lawmakers over Facebook's stance than during Tuesday's five-hour session in the Senate, where his defense of data sharing was weakly challenged.

"As long as there are people sitting in Russian Federation whose job it is to try and interfere with elections around the world, this is going to be an ongoing conflict", the 33-year-old billionaire said as he was prepared to testify again, this time before a House panel.

"If you think it is hard to pass a bill that affects a lobbyist's favorite client", said Alvaro Bedoya, a former congressional aide who worked on privacy issues for former Senator Al Franken, "try passing a bill that affects all of them".

For 14 years, Mark Zuckerberg was free to use any means he could imagine to build his social network into an Internet and advertising colossus with tens of billions of dollars in revenue. It moved even higher when he started addressing the questions from lawmakers and finished the day with a 4.5 percent gain.

"Where's your accountability?" Rep. David McKinley, a West Virginia Republican, asked Zuckerberg after demonstrating that there were still posts on Facebook illegally offering opiate drugs.

If the people that represent us really want to hold Zuckerberg and Facebook accountable, we should be able to call his bluff.

It is less than two years since one of his closest lieutenants, Andrew Bosworth, wrote in an internal memo: "The ugly truth is that we believe in connecting people so deeply than anything that allows us to connect more people more often is *de facto* good ... that's why all the work we do in growth is justified".

Zuckerberg has apologised for his company's role in the data scandal saying: "We didn't take a broad enough view of our responsibility, and that was a big mistake". Their mission is to make money out of connecting people. We have to make sure those connections are positive.

Wearing a dark suit and tie and politely prefacing nearly every remark with "Congressman" or "Congresswoman", Zuckerberg appeared even more controlled than he did on Tuesday when he testified before senators.

Leading the region's investigation into Facebook is Britain, which has been studying "fake news" for months. "While Cambridge Analytica and Facebook are on top of everyone's mind, we aim to cast our net wider and think long-term". "What is interesting is that the number grows to 18% among people who are said to be very aware of the Cambridge Analytica indicent". "I should reasonably expect that that's going to work as it is presented to me".

"One thing that seems to be clear from everything that has taken place is that not everybody is talking from the same script", he said.

Interestingly, Facebook will still retain some of this data, as the official statement mentions.
