Former First Lady Barbara Bush has been battling health issues, but will no longer seek medical treatment.

The wife of the 41st USA president and the mother of the 43rd, Bush is only the 2nd woman in American history to hold the distinction of being a First Lady and First Mother.

The statement continued that she appreciated the well wishes she had received and that her family is close to her.

Most recently, she was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital on Good Friday suffering from shortness of breath.

"It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself - thanks to her abiding faith - but for others", the statement said. He is 93 years old and also has been in failing health in recent years. Praying for you Mrs Bush.

In retirement, former President George H.W. and Barbara Bush made Houston their home, often to the adulation of their fans whether it was sneaking a smooch on the Houston Texans kiss cam at NRG Stadium to tossing out the first pitch for the Houston Astros after President Bush broke his neck in 2015.
