Local Alert Weather 0415 AM

The Storm Prediction Center has shifted the highest severe weather risk north into Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

Rain chances will shift eastward overnight, and exit most of the area by early Saturday morning. The wind will be lighter today, and all areas will end up warmer with high temperatures mainly in the 60s for the plains, 50s over the mountains. We'll have a sunny afternoon.

We'll drop into the upper 30s and lower 40s by sunrise Monday. Breezy. Temperatures Falling into the Lower 60s.

The warming trend will start Wednesday with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s with a mostly sunny sky. Rain chances really pickup mainly after 2 AM.

Morning lows Monday for back to school/work will be chilly, if not cold.

We're watching a major storm system that's sparking a multi-state blizzard warning, stretching from Kansas to Minnesota. The highest severe threat will be moving into northwest Alabama from 1-3 p.m. and northeast Alabama from 6-9 p.m.

An isolated shower will possible this evening, with temps falling only into the 70s.

Officially, the entire region is in the "slight risk" category, meaning scattered instances of severe-level wind gusts and isolated tornadoes are possible. That could lead to additional severe weather. The best chance for activity will be in the PM hours, with some storms possibly becoming strong to severe.

Monday will be quite a bit calmer but cooler behind the cold front. As I mentioned before, anywhere that stays fairly quiet Saturday morning will be more poised for thunderstorm activity Saturday afternoon and evening.
