A farm in IN is recalling more than 200 million eggs sold in nine states over salmonella fears.

That led to an inspection of the farm in Hyde County, North Carolina that produced the eggs.

Eggs from the Rose Acre Farms facility in Hyde County, N.C., went to nine states including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Florida.

Live Science explains that even healthy-looking hens can harbor salmonella in their ovaries and sometimes lay eggs that were contaminated inside the chicken before the shells are even formed.

In 2010, more than 550 million table eggs were called from two Iowa egg farms owned by Austin "Jack" DeCoster.




According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), 22 people have been sickened by the eggs. "Throw them away or return them to place of purchase for credit or refund".
