'Fortnite' may be looking to increase player count in matches

Epic's increasingly popular Fortnite: Battle Royale is now set up to facilitate shenanigans between a maximum of 100 players, but that may change in the future.

It is a stretch to increase the player amount past 100 though and there are a lot of technological considerations to take into account, but "Fortnite" developers could make it happen in the future. I mean, personally, I would love to try it. This is a tricky challenge for Fortnite especially because the game's PvE mode (Save the World) is based on classes, while Battle Royale is not.

Fortnite went through a series of problems beginning on Wednesday as the game bean to log players out of the game and place them in a queue.

It's been no secret that over the past 24 hours we've been experiencing issues with our services that have prevented many of you from playing Battle Royale and Save the World.

We'll have a detailed postmortem of this week's issues, and more information about how we will improve services for you in the future. It's not something that is easy to map from one to the other.

Each class has different collision "volumes" on the different characters. Developers would be happy to release such limited time modes because it would allow players to experiment and do things they wouldn't be able to do in the original game mode. If we were to put those classes into Battle Royale everyone would gravitate towards the one that has the smallest "hitbox".

There's no particular reason that most Battle Royale games have stuck to 100 players per match, it's just a nice round number that ensures plenty of people are around for you to shoot in the face - and for you to be shot by. They give us the opportunity to break the game and tip everything on its head. Would you be interested in something like that, anyway? We're sorry. We know how frustrating this has been.
