Mikel Arteta to Arsenal: Bookies suspend betting on next Gunner's boss

Arteta is the leading candidate to become the club's new manager for next season.

Although Arteta has emerged as the front-runner and is reportedly the preferred choice of chief executive Ivan Gazidis, the likes of former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti, New York City head coach Vieira and Massimiliano Allegri of Juventus continue to be linked with the job.

Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has named Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo as the one player he regrets not signing for the Gunners. If he went to Everton and things went well he could end up finishing above them!

A runners-up finish in the League Cup as they surrendered to Manchester City in the finals did not harm Arsenal's reputation, but displayed the sheer gulf in class between the two clubs - while Manchester City shattered record after record to mount an elite title challenge, Arsenal barely survived the rigors of the marathon league. The ageing Petr Cech and the unreliable David Ospina below the bars have erred on crucial occasions, with whimsical defending from the back four often being the root cause of Arsenal's miseries across competitions.

The 46-year-old former Valencia, Spartak Moscow and Sevilla head coach has been replaced in France by former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel.

What Wenger has been clear about though is that he will not be taking over another English side.

It also remains unclear what Wenger's next move will be. "I think on that day, I would stay at home", he said. That is the problem I face at the moment.

Iwobi was however not bothered by league finish as he took to his official Twitter account stating his disappointment at the departure of the manager who gave him an opportunity in the first team.
