New WhatsApp Group Chat Features Offer More Control And Customization

Group creators can now add a group description when creating a group, allowing them to show participants a short blurb that describes the objective, guidelines, or topics for the group. These features are available for Android and iOS users on WhatsApp.

The update comes after WhatsApp promised a new group video calling feature at the Facebook F8 conference last month. The description will be shared with each new member of the WhatsApp group chat - allowing those having a discussion to stay on topic. "Today, we're sharing improvements that we've made to groups".

The first change gives groups a brief description to help clarify the objective and guidelines for the group chat. Facebook-owned WhatsApp recognizes the importance of Groups which is why the company has announced new features for this part of its app. In an expansion of the organization and administrative tools for the app, leaders will be able to restrict which members can change a group's icon and description as well as determine which users have administrative permissions. This should solve your daily conundrum with family WhatsApp Groups.

These changes to WhatsApp group chat come as part of a series of adjustments and fixes that aim to make the company even more secure as a business - including changes in management, features, and monetization strategy.

In addition to these features, admins now also have the option to remove admin permissions of other group participants, whereas group creators can no longer be removed from the group they started.

WhatsApp users can now also use the new mentions feature in groups.

Group catch up: One of the most demanded features in Groups was a way to find out whether someone called you out at some point and you can straight dive into it.

Find anyone in a group by searching for participants on the group info page. Now with Group catch up, you can quickly catch up on messages that people mentioned you by tapping on the new @ button that appears at the bottom right.

Protection: What has also introduced protection so users can not be repeatedly added to groups they have left.
