'Lando' Movie in the Works, Says Lucasfilm Chief Kathleen Kennedy

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy recently told Premiere France that Lando's story is likely the next Star Wars spin-off film. Her comment should have read, "We would love to tell a story about Lando Calrissian one day, but it's not relevant", Premiere wrote. At the moment, Glover stars alongside Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Paul Bettany and Thandie Newton in the new Solo: A Star Wars Story film that is set to drop in two weeks. It appears that confirmation of Star Wars Lando was a mere mistranslation from a foreign reporter.

Solo doesn't hit theaters for another week, but the next Star Wars spin-off may have already been revealed. From the context of the interview, it seems Kathleen Kennedy is implying that it follows Solo: A Star Wars Story within the chronology of the Star Wars canon.

Additionally, io9 heard from Lucasfilm as well, and the company's rep told them that Kennedy said it's something she'd like to do in the future.

Without spoiling Solo: A Star Wars Story, there are a couple threads left dangling that could lead to possible sequels featuring Han Solo and Chewbacca.

However, shortly after the article was released executives from Lucasfilm said that the quote was inaccurate and a result of translation issues between the journalist and Kennedy. Lando is also a beloved character who has been rumored to be getting his own film before and even has his own comic book line with Marvel.

It's evident that Donald Glover portrays Lando Calrissian flawlessly, but could a Lando movie work in terms of great storytelling?

"I was trying to get them in the movie, you know, very hard", Kasdan told ScreenRant. More Donald Glover makes the galaxy a better place for us all.
