For price conscious Indian travellers, worldwide air travel is becoming more affordable.

WOW air, the low-priced airline of Iceland, is soon going to launch its flight operations in India at the most affordable rates. The 3X-weekly Airbus A330neo route will launch in December, increasing to 5X-weekly from January 2019.

Service to DEL will be available from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL).

A one-way ticket to Iceland, US, Canada and London in the economy category -WOW basic - will start from Rs 13,499, including taxes, while the business class fares on - WOW premium - will be priced from Rs 46,599 onwards including taxes. "We are targetting the smart traveller", Mogensen said. And just a 125 mile road trip from Delhi is the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

WOW and the other Icelandic airline, Icelandair, have lacked aircraft with sufficient range to offer flights from Keflavík to Asian destinations.

St. Louis Lambert International Airport is among seven USA airports targeted for the special fares to India.

But though you may be able to book tickets now, you won't be able to travel until January 15, 2018 - which is the first available flight out from New Delhi to NY with a sub ₹14,000 price tag. The one-way fares only apply when accompanied by a return booking. There are also fees for selecting a seat assignment, starting at $7.

Established in November 2011 by Icelandic entrepreneur Skúli Mogensen, the purple airline flies with Airbus A320, Airbus A321 and Airbus A330 models. The low fares will come with a discernible sea-change in service quality and minus the luxury which comes as an essential part of any long-haul travel.
