Amy Berg's The Case Against Adnan Syed Doc Series Coming to HBO

Now, a four-hour documentary, The Case Against Adnan Syed, will delve deeper into the subject.

As fans of the incredible podcast Serial will know, following the 1999 disappearance and murder of an 18-year-old Baltimore County high school student named Hae Min Lee, her ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was convinced of the crime.

"The series traces how the rush to justice and Syed's conviction in 2000 raised more questions than answers about what happened to Hae Min Lee, underscoring the instability of memory and conflicting eyewitnesses", the HBO release said. To this day, Syed maintains his innocence and in wake of the new evidence and interest provided from Serial, he now awaits a retrial. Now, HBO have announced they're prepping a new documentary, The Case Against Adnan Syed, which will look at the case in an in-depth manner (and will also featuring some of those fancy moving pictures since it's going to be televised).

On Wednesday, HBO and Sky announced the docuseries The Case Against Adnan Syed - a reexamination of a now well-known murder case in Baltimore, Maryland.

"We'll be offering viewers a compelling window into one of the most talked about murder cases in recent years", said Sky's director of programming Zai Bennett.

'The hugely talented Amy Berg has unprecedented access to those closest to the investigation, which is sure to make unmissable viewing'.

Berg has been working on "The Case Against Adnan Syed" since 2015, per the release.

In 2016, Judge Martin P. Welch granted Syed a new trial, after it was ruled he had received ineffective counsel from his lawyer, Cristina Gutierrez. Nick Cave is set to provide original music.

At this point, no specific premiere date for the series has been confirmed.
