Lucasfilm President Would Like A Lando Calrissian 'Star Wars' Spin-Off

Lucasfilm President Would Like A Lando Calrissian 'Star Wars' Spin-Off

Rumor started this morning of a Lando Calrissian movie as foretold by Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy. This translates to: "We would love to tell one day a story dedicated to Lando Calrissian, but that is not topical*". Even though Princess Leia ignored his advances, many ladies of various species can not get enough of Lando Calrissian.

Solo: A Star Wars Story hasn't even hit theaters yet, but the buzz surrounding Donald Glover's role as Lando Calrissian is apparently leading to another spin-off. Original co-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired midway through production, and Disney asked Oscar-winning "A Beautiful Mind" director Ron Howard to come in to oversee extensive reshoots.

As host, he was there to promote his role as young Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

If you want to go and see the film, it's out in the United Kingdom next Friday. Sources close to Lucasfilm tell IndieWire that there are no concrete plans for a Lando standalone film at this time but that the studio is eyeing numerous options for the future. "Ce serait aussi amusant de relater l'histoire de Han et Chewie..."

Solo is the first in a potential series of films, with Ehrenreich signing on for three instalments, although it's unclear whether that might include an appearance in a Lando movie. I'm just really happy to be a part of this. Especially if they could book-end the adventure with an older Lando, while Billy Dee Williams is still around. The Lando hype continued as more teasers and stills were dropped, and according to critics who have seen the film already-including Vanity Fair's K. Austin Collins, Glover lives up to the hype.

Meanwhile, there's also inspiration that can be drawn from a forthcoming Lando comic miniseries called Double or Nothing that features Donald Glover's likeness as Lando.
