Ubisoft Pushes Skull and Bones Release Date to Fiscal Year 2019

Ubisoft Pushes Skull and Bones Release Date to Fiscal Year 2019

As part of the announcement, we also get word that the highly anticipated Skull & Bones has been pushed back to 2019-2020.

No clues are available about what that third title is, though recent rumours have pegged a new Splinter Cell game, while a new Watch Dogs is also possible, given the previous title released in 2016 and, if Assassin's Creed is any indication, the publisher may be looking to make Watch Dogs a biennial series. Ubisoft boasts 310 million dollar in revenue in the release week for Far Cry 5, "record" performance for Assassin's Creed Origins in the past quarter, thirty million registered players for Rainbow Six Siege, twenty for Tom Clancy's The Division, and ten for Ghost Recon Wildlands.

Skull and Bones will still make an appearance at next month's E3 in Los Angeles where Farren promises to show off some of what the studio has been working on for the past 12 months.

Farren discussed the delay in a post on Ubisoft's official forums, noting it's Ubisoft Singapore's "biggest game yet" and the team's goal is still to "build a shared systemic open ocean that captures the essence of the pirate fantasy and is full of activities".

Certainly not when we can expect to see it. Ubisoft is going to reveal the game at E3 in June, but thanks to a financial report via PC Gamer we do at least now know a fairly speedy release is planned.

"One year ago we proudly announced Skull and Bones at E3 2017".

"Letting you set your own objectives and to take down your rivals on your own terms is key to the experience we want to create", the developer goes on. "It's an incredible opportunity for us to take all that learning, all that experience from what The Division is today and put that into a new game". We can't wait to hear what you think!
