LeBron James scores 35 as Cavs advance to NBA Finals

Quotable - LeBron James, on what it'll take to win a Game 7 in Boston ...

His eighth straight NBA Finals sets up as one of his most hard, flanked by a largely unheralded set of teammates who force him to do much more at 33 than most other players are ever asked. He played the game's first 35 minutes before resting, expending enormous energy to keep the Cavs alive.

Cavs superstar James scored a game-high 35 points with 15 rebounds and nine assists to see Cleveland clinch a 4-3 series win.

The NBA Finals start Thursday at both Houston or Golden State.

Cleveland may be without Kevin Love on Sunday after the forward left the court with suspected concussion following a collision with the Celtics' Jayson Tatum.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens said, "I thought the biggest moment of the game was when we couldn't extend the lead in the second quarter". To top it off, James was playing on a sore right leg after Larry Nance Jr. fell into him in Game 6.

The big question however was the play of All-Star big man Al Horford who could only add 6 points on 2-9 shooting. "That was a good job by Coach Stevens to insert him". Special night tonight. Special night in Game 4.

"Win, loss or draw, at end of my career you are never going to get someone to say I didn't leave it out on floor", the four-time league MVP James said.

The Cavaliers spent most of the third quarter, too, trying to fully overcome that 12-point hole they had fallen into in the first half - and used their defense to do it. In elimination games throughout his career, James has averaged 33.5 points per game. Terry Rozier had his best game of the series with 28 points, including 6-of-10 on 3s, and Jaylen Brown put in 27, the Celtics' starting backcourt combining to shoot 21-of-34.

"That guy", Cleveland guard George Hill said, "amazes me". LeBron with 29 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. Boston was 7 for 39 from 3-point range, with Rozier missing all 10 of his attempts.

"Fortunately for us, we've got easily the best player in the world on our team", Smith said.

After taking a 25-20 lead after one quarter, the Celtics took a six-point edge, 30-24, early in the second.

The Celtics know how much more comfortable they would be closing out at home, but James in a game seven is a different monster.

This has been the most grueling playoff run in the four years since James returned to the Cavs. They still can surrender open shots everywhere, a flaw that seems fatal against the 3-point happy Rockets or Warriors.

But the game ultimately came down to the C's going through one of its scoring lulls, getting behind by double digits and not making that one shot or getting that clutch defensive stop to swing the momentum in their favor. In his last Game 7 outing - against IN on April 29 - he finished with 45 points, a total he also posted IN his first career Game 7 against the Celtics back IN 2008.
