Ontario Steelworkers endorse Andrea Horwath and the NDP

The Progressive Conservative leader says he has not yet decided if he will attend and participate in the event if he wins the June 7 vote. I don't know who voters will choose but I am pretty sure that it won't be me.

The announcement came as a surprise to numerous party's local candidates, many of whom said they learned about her comments from news reports and social media.

She declined, however, to endorse either the Tories or the NDP, nor would she comment on the possibility of strategic voting, a perennial issue in elections where voters appear to be clamouring for change.

Ford didn't offer anything in terms of publicized statements about Wynne's press conference, but Horwath was scathing in her response to the premier, saying she's basically giving up on the fight against "Doug Ford's cuts".

Ontario Liberal Leader Kathleen Wynne switched gears Sunday, from pushing for her party to be re-elected to instead using the last few days of the election campaign to try to save what Liberal seats she can.

The Liberals have been trailing the NDP and PCs in the polls, and Wynne admits her party can not win the June 7th vote.

Both Deirdre Pike and Ted McMeekin say they are confident this move by Wynne will encourage more people to vote Liberal to make sure neither the NDP or PC's hold too much power. "What really causes concern is that we have a leader who is trying to become Prime Minister in this province, and he is not being honest with people".

Horwath says she gets a sense that people want change, and after Thursday's election the government will look different than it has in the past two decades.

Omar Khan, a Liberal executive council member, said the party is now working on maintaining official party status.

Myer Siemiatycki, a politics professor at Ryerson University, said polling suggests a shift to the NDP away from the Liberals began unusually early this campaign given the "fear factor" around the Tories, who've been criticized for not detailing how they'd pay for their campaign promises.

With poll data indicating the possibility of a PC or NDP minority government, Bortolin told BlackburnNewsWindsor.com this is the latest example of Wynne's ability to make the tough calls.

"They have seen the results of our 15 years of government with more jobs, a stronger economy and investments in mental health, hospitals and schools, but they simply don't like her". The NDP leader has been pushing for Liberal voters to join them to stop a Ford win.

"Our steel and aluminum industries have just been slapped with steep tariffs by the U.S. Workers in these industries are under attack".

It was just one day after the writ dropped that Kathleen Wynne made a campaign stop in Barrie.
