Stoke keen for quick Shaqiri sale amid Liverpool links

Liverpool FC, though, could be forced to wait until after the World Cup as Shaqiri prepares to feature in the major tournament in Russian Federation.

"No player will leave the club that is contractually with the club unless the club feel it is a good deal and the right deal for them", said Rowett, who was speaking at his first press conference since taking over at Stoke this summer.

Both The Telegraph and The Independent report that Liverpool are very much interested in the winger, who was part of the squad that got relegated from the top tier of English football last season.

And The Guardian claims that manager Jurgen Klopp is open to the idea of bringing Shaqiri to Anfield.

A separate source, however, told ESPN FC that Liverpool were yet to approach Stoke with an offer for the 26-year-old.

Stoke's star forward is available for just £12m following their relegation due to a release clause in his contract.

Liverpool also have an interest in the former Bayern Munich player, with Jürgen Klopp looking to strengthen in key areas, although that has not advanced to activating Shaqiri's release clause.

Liverpool are chasing several high-profile attackers, but Rowett has confirmed if the Reds make a suitable bid for Shaqiri then the club will grant a sale.

"The Premier League is the best league in the world in my view and he should stay there".

However, with the Reds still reportedly keen on Nabil Fekir, it may turn out that the club see the Swiss as an alternative in case that deal does not go through.

Shaqiri will be hoping to produce a strong display at the World Cup in Russian Federation to spark a bidding war for his signature.
