De Gea coy on United future

The Manchester United goalkeeper was not charged, however Sanchez publicly stated that he was "uneasy" with de Gea as Spain's No. 1 heading into Euro 2016.

Manchester United have had to withstand interest from Real Madrid for the past three years for their prize asset. "It is important to be focused and be 100 percent".

At the time Sanchez said he did not "feel comfortable with De Gea as the national team's goalkeeper".

Spain will open their World Cup campaign with an intriguing contest against Portgual where De Gea will be hoping to shut Cristiano Ronaldo out. "Many people have been very unfair to me".

"There are things that did a lot of damage and had an affect". And there is no more. From the beginning I said that everything was a lie and some even said that I shouldn't be in the national team and, in the end, it was shown to be a lie. "I was already calm, but then you remain calmer still".

However, when asked about the possibility of the move resurfacing De Gea refused to outright rule out the possibility and instead insisted that all of his energies were focused on the World Cup.

De Gea said his full focus was now on the World Cup despite continuing speculation that he could join Real Madrid, with Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak mooted as a potential replacement. "It's the same feeling of doing things well and helping the team, of becoming strong".

De Gea is perhaps Jose Mourinho's best player and losing him at the moment would be too much trouble considering the overhaul the manager has planned.

"Will I be first-choice?" They like to play different kinds of music but I always play them a bit of mine. "But when you have the confidence of the coach and colleagues, you always go to the field with more confidence and try to help the team as much as possible".

Spain take on European champions Portugal in their Group B opener on June 15.
