Disney's Dumbo Remake Trailer Is Moving And Magical

(Titles like Pete's Dragon or Alice in Wonderland don't quite count because the original was either animated and live action, or have little to do with the previous iteration.) Disney hopes to keep this endless money train going with Dumbo. This time its fan-favourite filmmaker Tim Burton who is driving the affair, and we've just got our first real look at his efforts courtesy of the first teaser trailer. The new trailer includes shots of the circus and even a fleeting glimpse of Dumbo in flight.

As Disney goes into its animation vault to pluck their beloved features and turn them into live-action tentpoles, despite making enough money to turn Mickey's eyes green, the results have been mixed at best.

In Dumbo, Danny DeVito stars as the circus owner who recruits Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) to care for a newborn elephant with large ears.

DeVito and Farrell will be joined by other big-name actors such as Eva Green, Michael Keaton and Alan Arkin. While Burton and Depp seem to be attached at the hip, Depp's frequent over-costumed mugging has produced some of the least enjoyable Burton films. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see whether Burton and screenwriter Ehren Kruger stick to that spartan approach or actually add some additional flare to the beloved tale. Will Vandevere's Dreamland attractions prove to be more than it appears?

Next up is the live-action remake of Dumbo, and the first trailer has arrived.

Dumbo, a remake of the 1941 film, comes from Tim Burton, who has been looking for a major hit after a number of disappointments this decade.

Dumbo is slated to premiere in theaters on March 29, 2019.
