Raccoon captivates internet with Minnesota skyscraper climb

A raccoon made its way to the very top of a Minnesota office building early Wednesday as a captivated audience watched in the streets and on social media.

Nearby Minnesota Public Radio branded the raccoon with the hashtag #mprraccoon.

Meanwhile, someone who also is decidedly not the raccoon started a rival Twitter account. "Not what I need right now".

The adventurous animal was first spotted Monday on a second-story ledge of the Town Square building.

A raccoon ended up in a most precarious place near the top of the UBS building.

There is not a whole lot that St. Paul Animal Control can do because a rescue mission would be too unsafe for both the raccoon and the workers.

Many people followed the raccoon's adventures and half a dozen Twitter accounts purporting to represent the animal were launched.

The raccoon has developed quite the following on Twitter, and people are understandably pretty anxious for it. James Gunn, director of iconic raccoon film Guardians of the Galaxy, has even promised to donate $1000 to the non political charity of choice for anyone who can save Skyscraper Raccoon.

Even Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn got around the cause, offering $1000 to charity in the name of the person who could save the raccoon.
