Leheita said a physiotherapist from the medical staff of Salah's Liverpool club was at Grozny to help, and denied the English club was pressuring the Egyptians not to play Salah before he is fully fit.

However, he's fighting to be fit for Egypt's World Cup opener against Uruguay and hopes to enjoy more success with his national team this summer.

However, Salah expressed reassurance and high hopes on Sunday, "I'm excited".

"Maybe he could start on the bench, but a final decision has not been made yet, ' the Pharaohs" team doctor, Mohamed Abouelela, said on Monday.

"Even if Salah is at his best, it is going to be hard for Egypt to get out of this group, in their first World Cup since 1990".

Sporting a turquoise-and-white tracksuit, gushed about Salah, saying the Egypt and Liverpool goal machine was "the best footballer in the world, and an overall ideal person".

For the team itself, the Salah-Kadyrov handshake was far less important than whether their star will recover from a shoulder injury to feature in Egypt´s opening match against Uruguay on Friday in Ekaterinburg.

Salah told reporters on Sunday that he expected to play against Uruguay, before he flew to Russian Federation with the rest of the Egyptian squad. "He has the determination and enthusiasm to take part in the Uruguay match, but we can't say whether he will play or not four days ahead of the game", Leheta said.

"From what I've been told, this is unlikely to get done before the World Cup, if at all".
