Report a 'total disaster' for Comey and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, says Trump

Trump's personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, told "Fox & Friends" that the report casts doubt on whether Trump will ever agree to an interview with Mueller's team because "why would he get interviewed by a corrupt investigation?"

President Donald Trump said the inspector general's report on the Hillary Clinton email investigation proves that the FBI and the Justice Department acted out of bias against him, but the report itself does not back up his claims.

In a long-awaited report, the department's inspector general, Michael Horowitz, wrote that Comey made a "serious error of judgement" in publicly disclosing the findings of the probe during the contested election between then candidate Donald Trump and former secretary of state Clinton. It criticized the FBI and former director James Comey personally but did not find evidence that political bias tainted the investigation in the months and days leading up to Trump's election.

President Donald Trump declared Friday he thinks the Russian Federation probe is "very biased" and has reservations about being interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller, raising more questions on whether he will consent to an interview as part of the investigation. "I did a great service to the people in firing him", Trump tweeted. If Trump wants to view people's partisanship as their only motive for doing their jobs, he loses that argument very quickly when it comes to the independent, FBI-backed investigation now looking into Russia's interference in the 2016 election and any possible collusion between his campaign and the Russians.

Mr Trump's comments on Twitter represented his first public statements on the report released on Thursday by the department's inspector general, which was critical of several key Federal Bureau of Investigation figures in the Hillary Clinton email probe.

"One more thing: She might be our next president", Page said in a February 24, 2016, text to Strzok.

The phrase has also been used jokingly to insult Trump supporters for latching onto the email scandal for so long, while there's plenty of better things to be concerned about.

In the 500-page report, Comey is criticised for violating Justice Department policies by making these announcements, but it also says there is no evidence he did this out of political motivation. "We'll stop it", Mr Strzok responded.

"The conclusions are reasonable, even though I disagree with some", Comey added. "The FBI handled the investigation in a way that was very problematic for Clinton and complicated her life immensely".

"Comey said that he became concerned that the information about Lynch would taint the public's perception of the [Clinton] investigation if it leaked, particularly after DCLeaks and Guccifer 2.0 began releasing hacked emails in mid-June 2016".
