Trump will choose from his 25-member shortlist, and has narrowed it down to five candidates.

According to the Post, Trump wants a nominees who is "extraordinarily well qualified" and who earned their degree at an Ivy League university-namely Harvard or Yale.

In a tweet, Trump opined that the U.S. economy has probably been "stronger", adding that it was "exciting times for our country".

United States President Donald Trump on Sunday predicted a "big week" ahead as he is preparing to nominate a judge of the Supreme Court to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy. At one point, he said he would probably interview six or seven candidates, including possibly two this weekend.

Secondly, the adviser told The Post that the nominee can not be "weak", and must demonstrate the wherewithal to resist "the political and social fashions of the day".

"Outside of war and peace, of course, the most important decision you make is the selection of a Supreme Court judge, if you get it", Trump said.

"I'm very proud of Neil Gorsuch", Trump continued. Trump is also considering Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Amul Thapar, who could become the first Indian American to serve on the Supreme Court. You know, there's so many elements go into the making of a great justice of the Supreme Court. When asked about the effect his presidency has already had on the nation's highest court, Trump emphasized that recent major decisions by the conservative majority - he specifically referenced one against public-sector unions - were likely due to his appointment of Justice Neil Gorsuch previous year. "You know, usually they don't say that".
