Lakers Announce JaVale McGee Signing

The Klutch Sports Group, agents for James, tweeted a photo of the four-time NBA Most Valuable Player on Monday night with "officially signed with the Lakers" as the caption. We won't know the answer to that for some time, but James himself seems to be getting the hang of this L.A. thing already.

This has put head coach Luke Walton in his third season with the team in the position of coaching arguably the best player in the league.

He said: "He loves to compete and is an awesome leader who is about winning and making sure that his teammates are successful". But before James and Co. went public with the news via a simple Instagram post, the three-time champion sent an even simpler text to Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka. "We will continue forward and do all that is necessary to achieve our shared obsession of bringing banner number 17 to the world's best fans - Lakers Nation".

"It's a big step closer to returning the Lakers to the postseason and the NBA Finals".

Los Angeles also assembled a reasonably talented young core before James' arrival with Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart.

In addition to James, the Lakers' management team of Johnson and Pelinka have added guards Rajon Rondo and Lance Stephenson and center JaVale McGee to the roster during a hyperactive free-agency period that begin with the start of the negotiating period at 9:01 p.m., June 30.

James spent his first seven seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, his next four seasons with the Miami Heat, and his last four seasons back at home with Cleveland.

James is coming off one of his greatest National Basketball Association seasons, playing in all 82 regular-season games for the Cavaliers while finishing third in the National Basketball Association with 27.5 points per game and hitting career highs with 8.6 rebounds and 9.1 assists.
