Manchester City edging closer to deal for Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez

Algerian football star Riyad Mahrez is set to complete a move to Manchester City later this week, Sky Sports reports. The basic price of the Algeria global is expected to start at £60m and with add-ons may raise to £75m.

Mahrez will undergo a medical in the next few days, it is claimed, before putting pen to paper on a long-term deal at the Etihad Stadium. Guardiola's men have a lot of games to play next season and Mahrez will certainly get his chance to shine.

Leicester have granted Mahrez a week off after a friendly worldwide with Algeria, but it is believed that the Foxes granted the extra rest for Mahrez to finalise his deal with City.

The Citizens are thought to be paying £60 m for the 27-year-old.

The majority of Leicester's squad reported back for pre-season training on Monday, but Mahrez and his Algeria team-mate Islam Slimani are not due back until next week having played in an global friendly on June 7.

Signing James Maddison, 21, from Norwich City triggered Leicester's willingness to enter into talks with City with the likely fee for Mahrez funding their summer spending.

Mahrez, who signed from Le Havre for just £400,000 in 2014, has made 179 appearances for Leicester, scoring 48 times.

Pep Guardiola hopes to sign Jorginho in time for the start of pre-season training on Monday, with Manchester City and Napoli close to finalising a deal for the midfielder.
