The U.S. Embassy has even warned American citizens to keep a low profile during the visit because of the planned protests - the sort of warning usually issued in more volatile locations.

One such protest will entail a 19-foot-high orange balloon shaped like Trump as a baby, which London Mayor Sadiq Khan - who's feuded with the president - approved under "the right to peaceful protest".

Left-wing anti-Brexit group "Another Europe is Possible" have also parked vans with message that reads-'Trump: Go Home or Face Protest' in Parliament Square to mark US President's visit to the UK.

It has been dubbed Storm Trump and the country is braced for a USA presidential visit that has split opinion like never before.

Mr Trump arrived at London Stansted Airport at 2pm on Thursday for his four-day working visit.

Trump will spend the weekend at the former, which he described as a "magical place", before heading to Helsinki, Finland, for a much-anticipated summit on July 16 with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump is expected to arrive after a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Belgium and will meet with Prime Minister Theresa May, meet Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle, and will attend a black-tie dinner at the home of former World War Two leader Winston Churchill.

Protestors will be on standby to race to one of Trump's two golf resorts in Scotland in case he visits.

PRESIDENT DONALD Trump and First Lady Melania Trump arrived in the United Kingdom today (Jul 12) for a two-day working visit.

He said: "I recently read a story that in London, which has unbelievably tough gun laws, a once very prestigious hospital right in the middle is like a war zone for frightful stabbing wounds".

"When we leave the European Union we will begin to chart a new course for Britain in the world and our global alliances will be stronger than ever", May said ahead of Trump's visit.

"NHS may have challenges but I'm proud to be from the country that invented universal coverage - where all get care no matter the size of their bank balance", Hunt tweeted at the time.

President Trump: "I think they like me a lot in the U.K".

On arrival, Trump will not be met by Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon - a fierce critic - and instead by the British government's Scotland minister David Mundell.

Awaiting him on the tarmac on Thursday afternoon were three Osprey helicopters belonging to the US Marines, which are used to transport the President's staff and security detail on overseas trips. She's planning to attend anti-Trump protests.

Top it off with the introduction of trade policies that have targeted some European industries - even though European nations are longtime friends accustomed to easy trade with the USA - and it is not surprising that Trump's itinerary will keep him out of central London on Friday, when large protests are planned.

May is hoping Trump's trip will boost the close ties between their two nations and help forge a future free trade deal once Britain leaves the EU.
