Having won the Premier League title in Conte's first season at the helm, last term was a troubled one for Chelsea - although it ended with them winning the FA Cup.

Conte won the Premier League title in his debut season following his spell as national team boss at Italy.

Reports all through Thursday, July, 12 said the Stamford Bridge outfit have terminated the contract of the 48-year-old after two years in charge.

"I wish you every success in the future", he wrote.

Chelsea finally confirmed Conte's departure on Friday, with Cesc Fabregas paying tribute to the Italian coach on Twitter.

However, while present players may have had issues with Conte, former Chelsea legend John Terry, who left after the league title winning campaign had nothing but praise for him.

Chelsea released a short statement which was less than 60 words, which failed to thank the manager for his contributions and which has been slammed as classless by many fans.

Sarri spent three years at the club and led it to two runner-up finishes and a third place, playing an entertaining and high-energy brand of football like that seen at Man City under Pep Guardiola, Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino, and Liverpool under Juergen Klopp.

Sarri has been favourite to succeed his compatriot after impressing as manager of Serie A side Napoli, who have replaced him with former Chelsea handler Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian coach fell out with the Chelsea board last season and was adamant that he would receive his full £9m compensation fee. "Jorginho would go to Chelsea regardless of Sarri".
