Prince Louis' official christening photos released by Kensington Palace

The official photos from Prince Louis of Cambridge's christening have been released by Kensington Palace today.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip are notably absent from the group photos as they were unable to attend their new great-grandson's christening.

"The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Louis in the garden at Clarence House, following Prince Louis's christening". And in the newly-released official photographs, the strong bond between mother-and-son is hugely evident.

The third image shows the Cambridges as a family of five, with Kate Middleton lovingly looking down at her son as little Charlotte and George stand nearby with William. "The photographs were taken by Matt Holyoak at Clarence House, following Prince Louis' christening", the palace tweeted.

Royal photographer Matt Holyoak was picked to capture the precious moments between the family.

Guests at the service included Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, and newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a dress by designer Alexander McQueen, the same designer she's worn for each of her children's christenings, and a hat by Jane Taylor.

The archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev. Justin Welby, who also officiated the May nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, performed the ceremony.

Unofficial photos were taken on the day of the ceremony and showed the Duke and Duchess together with all three of their children for the first time. The Middleton family - Kate's parents Michael and Carole, brother James and pregnant Pippa with her husband James Matthews - also beam with pride in an extended family portrait.

The family was beaming as they celebrated their new member. Prince George's big day was captured by Jason Bell back in 2013, also in the Morning Room and in a similarly formal style.

On July 9, Prince Louis officially became a part of the Church of England, and his entire family (minus the Queen of England) was there to witness the momentous occasion.
