Papa John's Founder: I Shouldn't Have Stepped Down

Papa John's Founder: I Shouldn't Have Stepped Down

Schnatter resigned at the behest of the Papa John's board last Wednesday, after a Forbes article revealed he used the N-word on that call.

CNN reported that Papa John's had already suffered a decrease in sales for the first quarter of 2018.

'The board asked me to step down as chairman without apparently doing any investigation.

Schnatter, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, has since gone as far as to call his resignation "a mistake".

Along these lines, Schnatter claims he just utilized the word since he was endeavoring to remove himself from indecent narrow-minded people who utilize the word.

Schnatter, no stranger to controversy, admitted he used the racial slur - but said the company's marketing firm had "pushed" him to use it. That ownership position ensures that Schnatter will be a key figure for the company in the coming days, despite the fact that he no longer holds an official role in its operation. The words were, 'If I don't get my [expletive] money, I'm going to bury the founder. I'm not for sale, ' he told the outlet in an interview on Friday.

Schnatter also offered an apology telling WLKY that he was repeating something someone else said and was "provoked".

The pizza chairman then allegedly spoke of growing up in IN, where the outlet reports that he said "people used to drag African-Americans from trucks until they died". Schnatter said the agency requested $6 million "because they claimed some of their people had been offended by what I had said", he wrote.

'To know that I hurt my community, and hurt my university, and hurt my employees and hurt my franchisees, it's devastating'.

Laundry Service has yet to comment on Schnatter's accusations.

In a press release on Sunday, Papa John's said that the company will be terminating a sublease agreement with Schnatter, which allowed him to use office space in headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.

Schnatter had already resigned as CEO a year ago after blaming disappointing sales on the NFL leadership's on the controversy surrounding football players kneeling during the national anthem. The MLB said it is also suspending its "Papa Slam" pizza promotion during games.

The revelation of the N-word comments forced him to step down as chairman. Later in the call, Schnatter brought up his childhood in IN saying, 'people used to drag African-Americans from trucks until they died'.
