Everton have beaten the clock to sign Bernard from Shakhtar Donetsk

Everton completed the signings of Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes from Barcelona and Brazilian free-agent winger Bernard on Thursday in a triple deadline-day swoop for the Premier League club. The club reserves the right to buy back the player.

The attacker, who can play either on the wing or in an advanced midfield position, has earned 14 caps for Brazil, but none since starting in their shocking 7-1 defeat to Germany in the 2014 World Cup semifinals.

The club also confirmed that Andre Gomes will join the Toffees on a season-long loan. This is a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to competing here.

Former Everton manager Sam Allardyce believes that the Toffees will struggle to look after "all the excess players" on their books.

"Barcelona would like to publicly express their thanks to Yerry Mina for his commitment and dedication and wishes him all the best for the future". Bernard wanted £200,000 a week earlier in the summer but the 25-year-old ultimately lowered demands that had deterred interest from West Ham, Chelsea and Milan, among others.

However, Mina failed to impress in just six appearances for Barca since signing from Palmeiras in January.

Portugal midfielder Gomes joins on an initial one-year loan deal after the teams agreed a €2.25m fee.

Meanwhile, Gomes has been rendered surplus to requirements at Barcelona and has failed to become a regular in the Barca first team. He has signed a five-year contract and joins Lucas Digne, the left back who also moved from the Nou Camp this summer.
