New PS4 Pro Model Celebrates 500 Million PlayStations Sold

Comes with 2TB hard drive, each unit of the PlayStation 4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition console comes with a serial number as only 50,000 units will be released throughout the world. The company announced it to celebrate 500 million sales of PlayStation consoles since the brand's inception in 1994.

The controller is half-translucent dark blue and half-matte, while the Gold Headset 500 Million Limited Edition is finished in the same dark color, with a copper PlayStation logo on both sides. Also bundled with the console is a PlayStation Camera.

Those that enjoy the little details will be happy to know that there will be a copper plate affixed to the front, each stamped with a unique number. Sony tells gamers to be on the lookout for certain special serial numbers, which include 09995, the USA launch date of the original PlayStation, and 01115, the U.S. launch date for the PS4.

Pre-orders for the PS4 Pro will be available in Europe on August 14 from retailers including Amazon UK, Game, Smyths, ShopTo, and Very. The one you buy might even feature the PS4 United States release date serial number 01115, or 01013 for the PSVR launch date.

The limited edition 500 Million Limited Edition Gold Wireless Headset retails separately at $99.99 and can be purchased in select retailers across the United States and Canada in early September 2018.

If you're going to pick one up, be prepared to plop down $499.99 - it's not exactly cheap, but it's also worth keeping in mind that Sony is only making 50,000 of these. We'll see the console launch at retailers around the U.S. on August 24, while the controller and headset will follow in early September.
