Samsung launches Galaxy Note 9 with big screen and Fortnite

The Galaxy Note 9 will be available for €999 in Europe for the base variant, which comes with 128GB internal storage.

Plenty of details about the new Galaxy Note 9 have emerged in recent weeks. Despite sporting a slightly larger 6.4-inch display - the Note 8 had a 6.3-inch screen instead - it doesn't feel that much bigger than its predecessor.

"We expect the Note 9 to sell more than its previous model and we will mobilize all our sales and marketing resources to ensure the successful launch", KyeongTae Lee, Samsung's vice-president of mobile communication, told investors on the company's earnings conference call last week. Thankfully, Samsung hasn't killed the headphone jack so you can still plug in your favourite headphones. Announced alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, the new watch is set to be on sale nearer the end of August.

Epic Games and Samsung have launched the Fortnite Battle Royale Android beta on August 9, plus an exclusive Galaxy skin for Samsung Galaxy users. No photo editing necessary. Once the phone has detected the scene, it optimizes saturation, white balance, brightness and contrast to best suit the scene. It then enhances saturation, white balance, brightness and contrast depending on the setting.

Nobody said a flagship phone would be cheap, and that's certainly the case for the Galaxy Note 9. After the picture is taken, a notification identifies the problem, so you can snap it again.

You won't be surprised to hear that all of the major carriers are getting in on the Galaxy Note 9 this year. The subsequent recall cost the company over $5 billion. Today's launch will mark the global launch of the device.

As we mentioned earlier, the Galaxy Note 9 will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC (2.8GHz + 1.7GHz) in markets like the USA, while countries like India will receive the Exynos 9810 (2.7GHz + 1.7GHz) variant.

The stylus, which connects to the phone withBluetooth, now acts as a remote control.

When you remove the S Pen from the Note 9, you'll notice a small button right in the middle of the pen. If you simply can't choose between the two, you can also pay $99 and get both promotional offers (and still save a few hundred bucks).

Samsung's color strategy is changing for 2018.

Colour-wise there's Oceaon Blue, Lavender Purple, Black, and Copper. On the back, there is expected to be a dual-rear camera setup comprising of a 12-megapixel primary lens with a dual aperture that can shift from f/2.4 aperture to a wider f/1.5 for low light shots along with a secondary camera has a 12-megapixel lens with f/2.4 aperture.

"It's a little bit underwhelming", he said.

The Galaxy Note 9 128 GB will be the easiest to find.

But the Note fan base may be convinced to upgrade if they're in the market for a bigger screen, better battery life and new camera features.
