The soul singer Aretha Franklin was said to be seriously ill and surrounded by family and friends in hospice care yesterday.

Trump tweets over former aide: Omarosa Manigault Newman, the former adviser to Donald Trump has released what she says is a tape of a phone call from the United States president after her dismissal a year ago.

The 76 year-old "Queen of Soul" Franklin, known for hits such as Respect (1967) and I Say A Little Prayer (1968), "is gravely ill in Detroit". In 2010, Rolling Stone magazine put her at the top of its list of the 100 greatest singers of all time, male or female.

"Clive Davis Presents: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin" is scheduled to take place at MSG on November 14th; the only performer confirmed so far seems to be Jennifer Hudson, who is also slated to play Aretha in a biopic for Sony/Tri-Star.

One of Aretha's close friends told TMZ that they were told a week ago to prepare for the worst as she "could go any time".

Our well wishes are with the legendary singer.
