Kemi Adeosun reportedly leaves Nigeria after resigning as Finance Minister

Her letter also revealed that she took the decision to resign after an internal investigation ordered by President Buhari declared the exemption certificate as fake.

THERE was anxiety in Abuja on Friday over the continued status of Mrs Kemi Adeosun as Minister of Finance.

However, the PDP is not satisfied with the former minister's resignation and has insisted on her immediate arrest and prosecution.

The President thanked the Minister for her services to the nation and wished her well in her future pursuits.

In her statement on Friday, Adeosun said her understanding was that she was exempted from the scheme because she had moved back to Nigeria from Britain, where she was born, after she had passed the required minimum age.

A newspaper around noon published a breaking news that she resigned.

Zainab Ahmed was appointed the Managing Director of Kaduna Investment Company by Governor Patrick Yakowa in March, 2009.

Also, she contributed to the floating of several multibillion-dollar Eurobond offerings and led Nigeria's discussions with multilateral institutions.

"Our investigations reveal that the Federal Government, which earlier made efforts to defend Mrs. Adeosun, has already perfected a plot to help her to evade prosecution following fears that she could open up on the very large corruption going on in the financial sector under the Buhari administration".

"Your Excellency, kindly permit me to outline some of the background to this matter". For me at my own end as the first son of the ministry, for now it's a no.

"On the basis of that advice and with the guidance and assistance of those, I thought were trusted associates, NYSC were approached for documentary proof of status". Having never worked in NYSC, visited the premises, been privy to nor familiar with their operations, I had no reason to suspect that the certificate was anything but genuine. "Be that as it may, as someone totally committed to a culture of probity and accountability I have made a decision to resign with effect from Friday, 14th September, 2018".
