Bill Cosby starts serving his jail term

Bill Cosby starts serving his jail term

Cosby declined to address the courtroom during the sentencing hearing and sat rigidly as O'Neill explained why state prison is mandated.

He's allowed phone calls, visits and exercise.

Corrections Secretary John Wetzel has described it as a "21st century institution with advanced security features, environmentally efficient infrastructure and modern work and housing spaces".

The prison's long-term goal is to place Cosby in the general population, officials said. The former Cosby Show actor will also have access to a barber shop and a gym.

There are no truffles or caviar on the prison menu, which changes daily and offers meat and vegetarian options. Wyatt didn't focus on Andrea Constand who testified about Cosby having "crushed" her "young and handsome spirit".

Bill Cosby has been sentenced to 3 to 10 years of state prison along with a fine of $25,000 plus the costs of prosecution.

While the world continues to react to Bill Cosby's sentencing, details are starting to come out about the new $400 million Pennsylvania state prison where he'll be serving out his sentence for drugging and molesting a woman more than a decade ago.

"They persecuted Jesus and look what happened", Wyatt also said, according to CNN. S***, I would actually be scared to say something because his entire life he has been put in such a positive light.

The judge, prosecutor and jury saw it differently.

The prison system assigned Cosby inmate number NN7687.

If Cosby serves the 10-year sentence, he will be 91 when he's released. "Finally, Bill Cosby has been unmasked, and we've seen the real man as he's headed off to prison". His spokesman, Andrew Wyatt, referred to Cosby as one "of the greatest civil rights leaders in the United States", a description many would clearly take issue with. When O'Neill asked him if he understood that decision, Cosby answered, "yes".

Once celebrated for his portrayal of the charming father figure Dr. Cliff Huxtable, Cosby was also declared a sexually violent predator - a designation that requires him to register as a sex offender and attend mandatory counseling for the rest of his life.

However, despite Wyatt's attempt to paint his client as an innocent man, psychologist Kristen Dudley, who testified in court, believes that, given the opportunity to do so, Cosby would sexually assault again.

Constand went to police a year after waking up in a fog at Cosby's estate, her clothes askew, only to have the district attorney pass on the case.
