Microsoft's latest Windows 10 update is reportedly wiping user data

According to some reports, the system rollback did not help: the missing files were not recovered.

On the IT front, Windows Defender ATP gets an array of upgrades in the Windows 10 October 2018 Update, Microsoft said. These files are a copy of C drive including Users folders which includes AppData, Desktop, Documents, Favourites, Links, etc.

Windows 10 version 1809, officially the October 2018 Update, started rolling out October 2.

If you like to be on the cutting edge when it comes to Windows 10 updates, it might be best to rethink that policy moving forward. However, it's not affecting all who've updated their Windows 10 devices.

If you just installed the Windows 10 October update and found that it nuked some (or all) of your critical user folders - and you didn't back them up elsewhere - stop what you're doing right now. In addition to it, Windows 10 October 2018 update was unveiled within the event held.

Windows 10 October 2018 Update has numerous features which are definitely going to be an addition into the users' favourites soon.

Those who hadn't gotten around to the automated update rollout should consider themselves lucky, as Microsoft's only guidance at this point is that users who experienced missing files should contact the company directly. "This is unbelievable, I have been using Microsoft products since 1995 and nothing like that ever happened to me", a user wrote on Microsoft's support forum. Those who have installed the update on their machines are regretting as it has resulted in wiping out large amounts of data that was backed up on the devices, but not on Onedrive. You'll be able to revert back to your previous version of the OS should anything go awful wrong with the update. The company pulled the Media Creation Tool for Windows 10 version 1809 from its website as well. There are many new features and improvements included herein. As always, now is a good time to take a serious look at how you back up your content so that you don't find yourself on the wrong end of a bad update.
