Grieving bride spends her wedding day at grave side

According to CBS4, his grieving mother contacted photographer Mandi Knepp to ask if she would photograph his bride-to-be Jessica Padgett on their wedding day.

As Kendall opened the passenger door of his auto to get his protective gear, he was struck by the speeding vehicle and died immediately.

Jessica Padgett was going to marry the love of her life. "This foundation not only honored my Kendall, but also took us in as family", she wrote on Facebook afterwards.

A volunteer firefighter and former high school basketball coach, Murphy was a popular member of his local community of Loogootee, Indiana.

Photographer Mandi Knepp, of Loving Life Photography, captured the day by shooting photos in typical bridal style: getting ready, standing with her bridal party, nieces and nephews, and parents.

Ten months later, Padgett put on her wedding dress anyway.

With her lacy wedding gown on, Padgett posed with family, friends and her fiance's firefighting gear.

In another photo shared by Padgett on Facebook, a photo of her wearing her wedding dress can be seen.

In some of the photos Mr Murphy had been photoshopped into the background.

"She made broken look attractive and strong look invincible".

The site of Murphy's grave.

"I've been dreading this day for a really long time", Ms Padgett said.

Other pictures show Jessica weeping over Kendall's gravestone as her family stand close by.

The town of Montgomery also honored Kendall, deciding to light several buildings-including the Montgomery Fire Station and St. Peter Catholic Church-in a shade of red last week to honor his memory.

The photos were posted to the Loving Life Photography Facebook page, with the photographer captioning them: "She made broken look handsome and strong look invincible".

Kendall was one of five firefighters from IN honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service on Sunday IN Washington D.C.
