Selena Gomez Hospitalized For 'Emotional Breakdown'

Selena Gomez Hospitalized For 'Emotional Breakdown'

Fans around the world have poured onto social media to pray for United States singer Selena Gomez amidst reports that she was booked into a mental health facility after suffering a breakdown.

Cape Town - Singer and actress Selena Gomez is seeking help to deal with her ongoing anxiety and depression.

The 26-year-old singer - who underwent a kidney transplant last year - has been hospitalised twice in the last two weeks, with the first coming after she became despondent and emotional when she was revealed to have had an "alarmingly low" white blood cell count.

TMZ claims Selena tried to leave soon after she was admitted but doctors said she couldn't, which caused a "meltdown" and she "freaked out" and apparently tried to rip the IV lines out of her arm.

The "Wolves" singer, who suffers from the autoimmune disease lupus, is now being treated in an East Coast psychiatric facility.

"Selena is freaking out about this", a source close to the "Slow Down" singer told Radar over the summer.

This comes just weeks after the songstress announced she'd be taking a break from social media. She was released after a few days but had to return last week with the same issue.

Gomez first sought treatment at Arizona's Dawn of the Meadows facility in early 2014.

Selena previously booked herself into a Tennessee facility in 2016 after she also suffered anxiety and depression during her Revival tour, Teen Vogue reports.

'As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given, ' she wrote. Just remember -negative comments can hurt anybody's feelings.
