Everton 3-1 Brighton & Hove Albion: Richarlison seals victory for Toffees

The Republic of Ireland global scored his first goal for 652 days in the 3-1 win over Brighton and his celebration was suitably emotional with a hands-to-the-ears celebration in front of the Gwladys Street End. It should have been a moment of unbridled joy but Coleman, who has struggled for form and fitness this term, decided it was time to make a point as he tore off furiously towards the Gwladys Street End, cupping his ears.

"When I came back here in January (for his first game after recovering from his broken leg) and played against Leicester, the reception I got from Everton fans is something which will stay with me for a long time".

"I was out injured for a year", said Coleman, who broke his leg on worldwide duty with Republic of Ireland in March 2017.

Silva's side have scored at least two goals in six of their eight games against teams outside the big six and after stumbling in some of their early matches, they have won their last three in that category.

"We were a little bit disappointed after the Manchester United game and it was important to put it right".

It was our best performance at home this season.

'Everything is OK apart from a small problem, nothing special, with Jags and Jonjoe, ' said Silva.

Everton were dominant throughout, with Idrissa Gueye hitting the post prior to Coleman's goal, while Theo Walcott and Gylfi Sigurdsson also passed up great chances, and Marco Silva believes his side are starting to click into gear having won four of their last five league games.

"Never mind being aware of it from the outside, I am one person who is very capable of taking it on the chin and knowing when I am not good enough".

"His quality to score goals is fantastic and his work-rate is second-to-none so that's impressive".

"We need to keep the ball better".

Brighton are the visitors to Goodison Park.

"We were away from home and up against a team that I think will push for the top six", he said.

'Something you already know, some months ago, that Zouma won't be able to play next week.
