Agents and executives reportedly believe Phillies will land Bryce Harper

This year's MLB free agent class has been hyped up as one of the biggest in league history. Looks like they want to get the bad taste of Dexter Fowler's deal out of their mouth and throw some more money to big-name free agents! Harper, at 26-years old, is hitting free agency at just the right time. The contract did not match the $325 million that the Miami Marlins gave Giancarlo Stanton in 2014, however, which is likely why Harper turned it down.

The Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are among the teams that have been rumored as potential landing spots for Harper.

"We know who the team is, it's already completed and done", Boras said. It will cost them roughly $13 million.

"I'm comfortable with the alternative (to Harper re-signing)", Rizzo added.

The good news for the Phillies is that they might be bidding against only a few teams, and perhaps none as attractive as the Phillies. For the moment, it seems he and Boras will explore options elsewhere.

Harper was publicly reminiscent and nostalgic on September 26, the Nationals' final home game of the season and reportedly the day he received the team's new offer. The Nationals made him a qualifying offer last Friday.

Boras did not counter, but word is the Nationals would go higher for a reasonable offer - though how much higher remains to be seen. Zack Greinke ($34 million), David Price ($31 million) and Clayton Kershaw ($31 million) all got more.

As we settle in for the beginning of Harper's Bazaar - which, in case you were wondering, is "fashionable", "elite", "historical" and "has inspirations that deal with great shoes and great hair", according to Boras - here's the latest chatter on his market... His clients include Nationals pitchers Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg, and former Nats outfielder Jayson Werth.

The Nationals were willing to make a strong commitment.
