CNN Reporter Jim Acosta Berated By Donald Trump & Suspended From White House

That's when CNN executive Matt Dornic got involved, alleging that Sanders was spreading "actual fake news" by using a "doctored" video to make Acosta's bad behavior look worse.

"We stand by our decision to revoke this individual's hard pass", Sanders captioned a clip from the press conference.

Other Twitter users showed Sanders' video side-by-side with the original broadcast to argue the one she posted had been doctored.

After the altercation, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announced that Acosta's press pass would be suspended, calling his conduct "absolutely unacceptable".

Despite obvious footage showing Acosta bringing his hand down on the intern's arm to block her from taking his microphone, CNN is standing by their man and doubling down on their attacks of the president.

Reporters and historians said it was hard to recall a similar episode.

While the origin of the manipulated video is unclear, its distribution marked a new low for an administration that has been criticized for its willingness to mislead.

Sanders cited the incident with the intern as the reason to revoke Acosta's White House credentials and shared a video of the act as proof. Infowars, whose conspiracy theories include the baseless claim that the Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax, was banned this year by Facebook, Google and Twitter for sharing offensive or threatening content.

Shapiro says that when Acosta's hand touches the intern's arm as she reaches for his microphone, the action speeds up in the apparently altered video to accentuate his movement.

CNN showed the clip but edited out the part where he clearly touched her. Watch the video yourself with your own to eyes. Trump sought to call on another reporter, but Acosta persisted.

The video is below; the microphone grab is at the:18 mark.

"CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them", Trump said.

"I've just been denied access to the WH. Secret Service just informed me I can not enter the WH grounds for my 8pm hit", the veteran news reporter wrote. Go ahead. You're a very rude person the way you treat Sarah Huckabee is awful and the way you treat other people are disgusting. "A free press is vital to democracy, and we stand behind Jim Acosta and his fellow journalists everywhere". "We encourage anyone with doubts that this reaction was disproportionate to the perceived offense to view the video of events".

When Acosta tried to ask further questions, Trump became angry, demanding that the reporter sit down and give up the microphone. And to be totally honest, I don't think that sitting here saying "back and to the left" gets us anywhere.

CNN said Wednesday night that Acosta's suspension "was done in retaliation for his challenging questions at today's press conference" and claimed Sanders "lied" in her explanation of what unraveled.
