National Football League free agency rumors: Dez Bryant to meet with Saints

He meant to sign a one-year contract this season, then work on a longer-term deal starting next season, the reports said.

Former Seattle Seahawk Brandon Marshall also will work out with New Orleans after recently visiting Detroit, added NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

It's unclear what the Saints are looking for in a workout with wide receivers. New Orleans is now 7-1 on the season and appear to be a serious threat in the NFC.

Bryant, 30, was a three-time Pro Bowler with the Dallas Cowboys who struggled to find his top form playing with quarterback Dak Prescott after the departure of Tony Romo.

Pelissero acknowledged in his report that Bryant has gotten close to agreeing to terms before, turning down an offer with the Baltimore Ravens said to be worth $21-million over three years.

The Saints were in the market for help at receiver after placing Ted Ginn Jr on injured reserve on October 18. Running back Alvin Kamara (51 catches) and tight end Benjamin Watson (26 catches) rank second and third on the Saints.

Bryant, who has not played an National Football League game since last year's season finale with the Cowboys in Philly, was released in March.

Bryant was released by the Dallas Cowboys in April and has visited multiple teams, including the Cleveland Browns in August, but has yet to sign.
