Apple admits touchscreen fault with iPhone X

The screens on affected phones may not respond correctly to touch or it could react even without being touched, the Cupertino, California-based company said.

The £999 handset, which was released last November and discontinued in September, has been plagued by complaints from users that its touch screen was not working properly for several months.

The iPhone X has problems with its touch screen, Apple has admitted, as it offers customers free repairs.

The replacement program is only for the iPhone X and doesn't include the new iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR.

Reuters reports that Apple acknowledged discovering some MacBook and iPhone X problems on Friday.

In the case of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, Apple warns that a "limited number" of systems with 128GB or 256GB SSDs could experience data loss and complete failure of the drive. These are included with 13-inch MacBook Pro models that were sold between June 2017 and June 2018.

If you've experienced any of this, Apple encourages you to find an authorized service provider, set up an appointment at an Apple Store or contact the company's technical support teams, who will assess the phone. Similar to the iPhone X, Apple will replace affected computers at no cost through its retail channels or an Authorized Service Provider.

Apple will update the firmware on the SSD, and all data on the drive will be wiped out - so be certain that you have a recent backup completed before you go through with the fix process.

You can check your MacBook Pro's serial number to see if your laptop is affected.
