Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg Will Host the 2019 Golden Globes

Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg Will Host the 2019 Golden Globes

The actors are both Golden Globe winners themselves. And in 2015, Samberg hosted the Emmy awards to generally positive reviews.

"Sandra and Andy are the ideal choices to host this world-class event", said Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, Co-Chairmen, NBC Entertainment.

Oh spent 10 seasons on Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Cristina Yang, but more recently she has been starring in the hit BBC series Killing Eve.

Black Panther, Crazy Rich Asians, A Star is Born and The Favourite are among the films expected to land nominations, while The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Killing Eve, The Handmaid's Tale and The Good Place are considered front-runners in the television/streaming categories. "Both Golden Globe Award recipients have continually showcased their talents in film and television, and we can't wait to see what their undeniable chemistry will bring to the Golden Globes stage". Samberg, meanwhile, is a two-time Golden Globe victor for his work on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, taking home statuettes in both the acting and producing categories.

The HFPA on Wednesday announced that Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh will host.

The 76th Golden Globes are set to air live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 6.

NBC, the TV home of the Golden Globe Awards for the past 23 years, did not officially become the network for the 2019 awards until September when it closed a new eight-year deal with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and dick clark productions to keep the show. The Golden Globes led NBC to the nightlong win in total viewers despite National Football League playoff competition. The new deal will extend the association through 2026, beginning with next year's 76th annual awards.

This marks the second time a pair will host the show after a three year stint by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.
