Brie Larson battles in space in the new Captain Marvel trailer

Brie Larson battles in space in the new Captain Marvel trailer

The film, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, is due in theatres in March. In it, we see that Carol Danvers, as a Kree soldier, arrives in "90s Los Angeles, where she is hunting for Skrulls".

The name of our heroine's cat may come as a surprise to fans of the comics because in previous incarnations, Captain Marvel's cat is named Chewie and is actually part of the Flerken species. And to tide you all over until then, a brand new poster has arrived - one bursting with vibrant colours and cosmic rays.

The second trailer for Captain Marvel, Marvel's first female superhero movie, is out. "Set in the 1990s, "Captain Marvel" is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe".

A teaser trailer for Captain Marvel was first released back in September, however it was targeted by trolls who slammed Larson for not smiling more in the clip.

Danvers is haunted by flashes of her past life on Earth and a sense of duty to protect the planet.

The New 'Captain Marvel' Trailer Is Here And It's Insane
The official trailer for 'Captain Marvel' is here and it shows off a younger Samuel L. Jackson

Though it's not an 'origin story, ' Captain Marvel is known to precede Iron Man, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Incredible Hulk, and Thor.

It's one of the most looked-forward-to "Avengers" sequel.

'I'm not gonna fight your war, I'm gonna finish it, ' Danvers says as the trailer comes to an end with footage of Danvers in full Captain Marvel costume taking flight, but on her own, without the help of a plane.

The trailer was also posted online, for those who weren't willing to wade through all the sports to get to the comic book-based action. It's the thing that gets her in trouble, but it's also the thing that makes her great. "If anyone tells you different don't trust them".

Captain Marvel will be released in United Kingdom cinemas on March 8 2019.
