Crash Team Racing remaster comes to modern consoles in June

Crash Team Racing is being remade in the vein of the Crash Bandicoot 'N-Sane Trilogy. It'll be out June 21, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.

Nitro-Fuelled, the updated version of the 1999 Crash Bandicoot kart racer, was officially unveiled at the Game Awards in the United States on Friday (NZ time) after widespread speculation in the gaming media. Let us know in the comments.

The game, according to Beenox co-studio head Thomas Wilson, will include new animations and personality as the team revamps the original game in celebration of its 20th anniversary.

It's the closest thing you can get to Mario Kart outside of Nintendo's platforms.

Crash Team Racing is a kart racing game that was developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony exclusively for the original PlayStation. It also comes with a Nitros character skin and kart, as well as character skins for Crash, Coco, and Neo Cortex, plus "additional digital content to be announced later". People could play in Adventure, Arcade, Battle, Time Trial, and Versus mode with up to four people in the original.

While it's fairly similar to the latter, the game's adventure mode was perhaps the key difference - seeing players taken on a more story-driven single-player outing with a hub world reminiscent of 1997's Diddy Kong Racing.
