Stranger Things: The Game revealed at the Game Awards

A trailer for a new game based on "Stranger Things" was shown via The Game Awards on Thursday evening.

The game is set to follow the events of the shows highly anticipated season 3. An exact date wasn't given, but the game will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

If Netflix wanted to keep perfectly in line with Stranger Things' 1980s setting, it would make an 8-bit-style game, but I guess that would asking a lot of players.

The video game allows you to play as the characters from Stranger Things, including pixelated versions of Chief Hopper (David Harbour), Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin).

The game is being developed by BonusXP who previously released the Stranger Things mobile game, and looks to be largely reminiscent of that title with upgraded visuals.

If you've got a Netflix subscription, you've probably watched all of Stranger Things, a nostalgia-tinged mystery show about alternate dimensions. Stranger Things 3: The Game should arrive sometime in 2019.

We'll have more details on the game when they become available, including the potential release date following the show.

Although a release date hasn't been confirmed we'd expect Stranger Things 3: The Game to come out close to the show's own release, which is now expected around summer 2019.
