Amazon Launches an Ad Supported Free Streaming Services

Users can access IMDb's offerings through the website via laptop or personal computer and on Fire TV devices (Fire TV customers will see the new IMDb Freedive icon in the "Your Apps & Channels" row).

TV shows on IMDb Freedive include past seasons of "Fringe", "Heroes", "The Bachelor" (seasons 20 and 21), "Gilligan's Island", "Duck Dynasty", "Quantum Leap", "Born This Way" and "Without a Trace". Popular IMDb original video series, including The IMDb Show, Casting Calls and No Small Parts, are available to stream on IMDb Freedive now.

Now, that service is officially open for business in the United States - dubbed IMDb Freedive, the video-on-demand offering currently provides users with around 130 movies and 29 TV shows to stream for free, as reported by Variety.

Amazon Prime Video which is locked in an intense competition against Netflix and Star India owned Hotstar, off-late has also build its film library by acquiring some of the latest films such as Thugs of Hindostan.

"Customers already rely on IMDb to discover movies and TV shows and decide what to watch", said Col Needham, founder and CEO of IMDb, in a prepared statement.




IMDb Freedive will compete with AVOD offerings including those from Tubi, Pluto TV and Walmart's Vudu.

Yes, IMDb, that site that you go to when you want to look up details on pretty much every movie ever made is now looking to also offer a streaming service of their own.

The IMDb Freedive catalog will continue to evolve, with new titles added regularly. Presently, Freedive is only available for the U.S customers.

IMDb claims it has 250 million unique visitors a month looking up information about more than five million movies and shows.
