'Criminal Minds' to end with Season 15

Criminal Minds is hanging in there for one more - albeit final - season.

The series tells the story of a specialized group of Federal Bureau of Investigation agents who profile criminals, attempting to unravel their psychology in order to anticipate their next moves.

The beloved series' official Twitter account confirmed the news that its upcoming 15th season will be its last with an "epic final season" promised to viewers.

"Hey, #CriminalMinds fans-we've got big news", the tweet read.

There aren't many shows at all that get to enjoy a 15-season run on television.

The procedural has been picked up for a 10-episode final season, CBS announced on Thursday.

CBS" EVP of current programs, Amy Reisenbach said that "It is the quintessential CBS hit.

Season 15 will consist of 10 episodes, which will be shot back-to-back. "It speaks to everything we do best, which is air quality television". First, mark your calendar for the Season 14 finale, Feb 6 at 10/9c. "It's been successful not only on air but online, in syndication, internationally for ABC (Studios)".

According to Deadline, the network has decided that it will use the abridged season to wrap up all the series' loose ends before sending them off into the sunset.

The long-running crime drama about a group of Federal Bureau of Investigation behavioral profilers recently celebrated its 300th episode.

The executive producer also teased enemies from past seasons could make appearances, including "one in the works right now who's a very memorable villain", Messer teased, "but I don't want to say too much if it doesn't work out with casting".
